Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a process for diagnosing and treating joint troubles. An orthopaedic doctor in Kolkata inserts a narrow tube with a fiber-optic video camera attached, through a tiny slit. The view inside the joint is sent out to a HD video monitor.

Arthroscopy lets the doctor view inside the joint without creating a big incision. Surgeons can also fix certain forms of joint damage through arthroscopy.

Why it’s done

Doctors use this method to diagnose and treat a number of joint problems, most commonly the ones affecting:

  • Knee
  • Shoulder
  • Elbow
  • Ankle
  • Hip
  • Wrist

Diagnostic procedures
Doctors recommend arthroscopy when X-rays and other imaging techniques have not generated clear results.
